Pulp Therapy

Restorative

About This Service

Kidzy Dental helps families understand pulp therapy when a deep cavity or tooth injury reaches the inside of a child's tooth.

Pulp therapy may be recommended when decay or trauma reaches the inner nerve tissue of a baby tooth or young permanent tooth. Families sometimes hear it called a baby root canal, but the exact treatment depends on the tooth, symptoms, X-rays, and how much of the pulp is affected.

Why saving the tooth can matter

A primary tooth may still have years of work to do. Keeping it healthy can support eating, speech, comfort, jaw development, and the space needed for the permanent tooth.

Different from adult root canal treatment

Pediatric pulp therapy is tailored to baby teeth and developing permanent teeth. The goal may be to treat only the affected portion of pulp or to protect a young tooth as it continues developing.

A plan based on symptoms and imaging

Pain patterns, swelling, X-rays, tooth mobility, and restoration needs all help determine whether pulp therapy, a crown, extraction, or another option is best.

What to Expect

1

Diagnose

We review symptoms, examine the tooth, and take any needed imaging.

2

Comfort

The tooth is numbed and your child is supported with age-appropriate guidance.

3

Treat The Pulp

The affected pulp tissue is treated according to the diagnosis and tooth type.

4

Protect

A crown or other restoration is often placed to protect the tooth after treatment.
